New 2017 Subaru Impreza

2017 Subaru Impreza Overview

  • Redesigned on the new Subaru Global Platform
  • Standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility
  • Optional EyeSight Drive Assist Technology Package
The 2017 Subaru Impreza is a compact car that comes as a 4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback. It competes with the Ford Focus, Mazda3, and Hyundai Elantra. This year, it has been redesigned and manufactured in the United States.

Four trims are available: the 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, 2.0i Sport, and 2.0i Limited.

The fifth-generation Impreza is built on the new Subaru Global Platform, which focuses on improved handling, stability, and comfort. The Impreza has a mixture of organic and geometric forms that follow more moderate proportions than its predecessor. The front-end features triangle-shaped headlights, a hexagonal grille, and a sculpted lower fascia. Deep channeled grooves stretch along the sides and blend with the sculpted front and rear fenders. At the rear, a new geometric taillight design creates a hexagonal frame around the license plate, echoing the front grille. Power/heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators and 16-inch alloy wheels come standard. LED headlights, front fog lights, a power moonroof, and larger 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels are available as well.

Under the hood, the Impreza is powered by a standard 152-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with direct injection mated to a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive (AWD). Fuel economy for the Impreza sedan is an EPA-estimated 28/38 mpg city/highway. It slightly lowers to a 28/37 mpg rating for the Impreza 5-door version.

Inside, the Impreza has a quieter cabin with cloth seating and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The Impreza hatchback has 55.3 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seat folded down. The center stack features a standard STARLINK multimedia system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and a USB port. It can be upgraded with a larger 8-inch touchscreen, an integrated navigation system, and a Harmon Kardon or a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system. Standard features include air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows/locks. Leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an automatic dimming rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, and push-button start are also available.

Standard safety features include a backup camera and a tire pressure monitoring system. The available EyeSight Driver Assist Technology package includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and a pre-collision system with automatic braking. Other available features include a blindspot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking.
